Starbucks Trades in Java for Juice in 2012
Starbucks has closed a $30 million dollar deal with Evolution Fresh to launch a chain of juice bars this year. Starbucks Corp purchased the California-based juice maker with plans to move into the health and wellness market by offering fresh, healthy juices and snacks completely seperate from the coffee shops we are used to on every street corner.

Jamba says: Thanks for the Smoothie Business Boost, McDonald's
When Jamba Juice parent Jamba stepped up to deliver its fourth-quarter results earlier this month, it was easy to question the lifestyle brand's blended essence. Competition has intensified lately. Would it be up to the challenge? McDonald's jumped into this booming niche two summers ago, when it added mixed berry and strawberry banana smoothies to its McCafe menu. Starbucks dived in two years before that, giving customers thirsty for coffee-free beverages a chilled alternative with its Vivanno line.

Greek yogurt stirs up the food industry
Greek yogurt is the Jeremy Lin of food products, launching out of nowhere into a stunning and sudden rise in fortune. Now comes the latest, and likely coldest, product — Ben & Jerry's Frozen Greek Yogurt. The Vermont company debuted four flavors this week: Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Fudge Chunk, Banana Peanut Butter and Blueberry Vanilla Graham.

That's the mentality Philip, 32, and his wife, Shanna, have instilled in their family and the service they provide to the community that has seen a tiny, one-room smoothie cafe turn into a multi-room, full-scale juice bar and cafe offering breakfast and lunch.

OB Smoothie Bar & Sub Express
With its tiny interior and minimal seating, this little juice bar and sandwich shop would probably get passed by on the regular if it didn't have the most garish facade on the seedy stretch of Newport Ave that makes up the main commercial thoroughfare in Ocean Beach. To be fair, it stands out in a cool way; more "get noticed at Burning Man" than "wear white to a funeral."
